What is an AI voice generator?

Is this AI voice generator free?

Voice generation requires a Melies account and credits. A voiceover starts at 5 credits and scales with script length, with the exact cost quoted before you generate.

How realistic do the voices sound?

Melies uses ElevenLabs text to speech for natural-sounding narration and dialogue. Results still depend on the script, punctuation, selected voice, and whether the line is written for spoken delivery.

Can I use different voices for different characters?

You can generate separate takes with Alice, Brian, Charlotte, George, or Laura. The current mini-tool does not yet provide character voice memory or automatic multi-character assignment.

What languages are supported?

The underlying ElevenLabs model supports multilingual text to speech, but the current Melies page exposes five built-in voices rather than a full language and accent library.

Can I control the voice speed and pitch?

Not in the current logged-in mini-tool. Today you choose a voice and edit the script; speed, pitch, and emotion controls should be treated as future product work unless they appear in the tool UI.

Can I download the generated voiceover?

Yes. Generated voiceovers are saved as MP3 audio assets that you can preview and download.

How is this different from ElevenLabs or Murf?

ElevenLabs and Murf are broad standalone voice platforms. Melies focuses on voiceover as part of an AI filmmaking workspace, close to screenwriting, video generation, music, sound effects, and subtitles.

Can I use the generated voices commercially?

Commercial use depends on your Melies plan, the Melies Terms, and the rules of the underlying voice provider. Review those terms before using generated voiceovers in paid or client work.
